Why do my classmates like to give lap dances to each other?

Yesterday, my class had this Christmas party. A high schooler came into the classroom and gave a lap dance to this girl, who's birthday was that day. Now, high school and the entire 8th Grade was giving each other lap dances, while the teacher was in there! The teacher told them to stop, but they kept doing it anyway. So I waited until 10:30 (that is the time when parents can pick up their child anytime, without being counted absent), and called my parents to pick me up. I was sad because it was Christmas and I don't think Christmas was made so teenagers around 13 and 14 and 16 can give lap dances to each other. Why are they like that? In my opinion, I think BET is to blame...

I can see where your coming from when your talking about BET, but I honestly don't think that's the main reason why people are doing it. Lap dancing usually has to with sexual pleasure, so IMO, the main reason why they were doing it was just to give themselves sexual pleasure. I honestly don't agree with it, but whatever makes someone feel good is what they'll do without even thinking about it. Its ridiculous, but its one of those trends for many teenagers today.





I don't understand why you can't just have fun and socialize at a party without trying to make it look like a strip club. Were the people who were involved in all of this really that desperate? Were they that indiscriminate that they decided to have fun by a sexual act during school hours? I always tell people that there's a difference between the words "fun" and "reckless." They're both adjectives, but reckless means going out of control and having no concern for anything. Fun means just having a good time without overdoing it. You can't have "reckless fun." So in this case, it wasn't just one of those "let them be kids" kind of situations. That's something that's uncalled for, especially on school grounds during a Christmas party. I think that society in general is to blame. (Not just the media) Very few parents in my opinion instill any good morals or values in their children. That's why when I see questions like "OMG I'M PREGNANT AT 14!" or something like that I think to myself, that person set themself and their child up. Sure, we're human and we all make mistakes, but can't people actually try to learn from them instead of living by them? I applaud you for standing up and being mature, and have a nice holiday.

ITS A FUQIN TV CHANNEL!! they are old enough to control how they act and dont need to blame a tv station. they act like this because no1 is REALLY stopping them, the teacher is telling them but not actually MAKING them stop. so you cant really blame a tv channel for their behavior

Reply:I think you should tell the principal. Ask her if she/he really wants to encourage early sex for teenagers. Adults can't stop ealy sex, but if they allow lap dances in their classroom, they're encouraging it.
Reply:When I was in public school last year we used to do this too, but the administration and parents did not approve. So it was done in spite of their objections. That is one reason why my daddy sent me to boarding school this year. Thank you and good day.

Jeez kids, teenagers are more capable of amazing things that adults dont believe we can do but as long as they dumb us down saying things like this are ok, we'll never rise above it.

Reply:You BET it is! Pop culture has a strong influence on young minds. You are able to see proof of it in front of you. Maybe you could put a video on youtube showing what BET and other tv companies are doing to young people, or send a video to your local TV station. They would love it!

Reply:Lap dances are a sexual thing. With teenagers hormones going haywire at that age, sex is something that is on a lot of teenagers minds (even girls). So... with teens giving each other lap dances, It's about pushing the envelope and exploring their sexuality. I agree 100% with you that kids at that age shouldn't be doing stuff like that. I'm sorry that you became sad when seeing all this happen, I would have gotten sad too.

Reply:I don't know why kids are the way they are these days, but you sound like a sweet girl. Don't ever let anyone influence your choices or change the morals that your parents instilled in you. You may be teased for holding out on this behavior, but stay strong. In the end you will still have your self respect and that is the most important thing.
